About Delco Cat Sittings

Where are you located and what areas do you serve?

I’m based in Clifton Heights, Pennsylvania and I care for cats throughout Delaware County. That includes Media, Swarthmore, Wallingford, Springfield, Broomall, Havertown, Drexel Hill, Ridley Park, Lansdowne, and nearby neighborhoods.

If you’re close and not sure if you’re in my service area, just reach out. I’m always happy to see if I can make it work.

Who is behind Delco Cat Sitting?

Hi, I’m Laura, the founder and owner of Delco Cat Sitting.

I’ve spent over 20 years working with animals in shelters, vet hospitals, rescue, and professional pet sitting. Along the way I learned two things. Cats are deeply sensitive creatures who deserve care that understands that. Also, they are very good at pretending they are fine when they are absolutely not fine.

Delco Cat Sitting exists because cats are not background noise in your life. They are the heart of the home, and I care for them that way.

Why do you specialize only in cats and small animals?

Because cats are not small dogs.

They have their own emotional language, stress signals, routines, and strong opinions about how their day should go. Specializing allows me to notice subtle changes, reduce stress, and tailor each visit to what your specific cat needs.

It’s calmer for them and honestly more joyful for me.

How is Delco Cat Sitting different from Rover or a general pet sitter?

Most pet sitting services are built around dogs, with cats added on as a side note.

Delco Cat Sitting is built around cats from the ground up. I’m not someone who also does cats. I’m someone who chose cats on purpose and built my work around them.

The difference shows up in the little things, and the little things matter.

Are you insured, bonded, and professionally certified?

Yes. Delco Cat Sitting is fully insured and bonded through Pet Care Insurance. I’m also a member of the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters and Fear Free Certified.

In plain English, that means I take your home, your cat, and your trust seriously.

What does Fear Free Certified mean for my cat?

It means I’m trained to recognize fear, stress, and anxiety and to respond in ways that reduce it instead of accidentally making it worse.

In real life that looks like moving slowly, respecting boundaries, letting your cat set the pace, and never forcing interaction just because “it’s time.”

Your cat gets to be themselves here.

Do you care for pets other than cats?

Yes. I also care for small animals like rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, birds, fish, and turtles.

Tiny paws, big personalities. They’re all welcome.

Booking and Getting Started

How do I become a new client?

The best way to get started is through the contact page.

I’ll reach out to you personally to answer any questions, make sure it’s a good fit, and then we’ll schedule a Meet and Greet if everything feels right.

That first visit helps everything feel easy and familiar when you travel.

What is the Meet and Greet and why is it required?

It’s a complimentary in-home visit where we meet, go over your cat’s routine, collect access information, and make sure I understand your setup.

It builds trust, reduces stress, and prevents surprises.

How far in advance should I book?

As soon as you know your dates, especially around holidays, which fill quickly. Two weeks’ notice is ideal when possible.

Do you accept last-minute requests?

Sometimes, depending on availability. I’m always happy to check.

Requests with less than 24 to 48 hours notice may include a rush fee.

Where can I see your pricing?

All pricing is listed on the Services page of my website.

If you’re unsure which visit type fits your cat best, I’m happy to help you choose.

Why are your rates higher than some sitters?

My rates reflect the level of care, experience, and attention your cat receives. These are not quick feed-and-leave visits.

I’ve spent over 20 years working with animals in shelters, vet hospitals, rescue, and professional pet sitting, and I continue to invest in ongoing education about feline behavior, health, and low-stress care.

I’m watching behavior, appetite, litter box use, stress levels, and overall wellbeing so small issues don’t turn into big ones.

Visits and Care

What happens during a visit?

Each visit includes feeding, fresh water, litter box care, and a quick home check.

The rest of the time is spent however your cat prefers that day, whether that’s play, brushing, quiet company, or a respectful nod from across the room.

How long are your visits?

I offer short Pop-In visits as well as 30, 45, and 60 minute options.

Some cats want efficiency. Some want company. Both are valid.

What are your visiting hours?

Visits are scheduled between 8 AM and 7 PM, seven days a week, including holidays.

Office hours for calls and messages are 9 AM to 5 PM. Visits outside the normal window may be available for an additional fee.

Do you offer overnight stays?

Not at this time. I specialize in drop-in care.

For cats who want extra evening company, the 60 minute Deluxe visit is a great option.

Is there a minimum number of visits required?

Yes. I require at least one visit every 24 hours for health and safety.

Every other day visits are not offered.

Do you charge extra for multiple cats?

Standard pricing covers up to three cats.

For households with four or more, an additional fee applies or a longer visit may be recommended so everyone gets proper care.

What if my cat hides or doesn’t like strangers?

That’s completely normal. I never force interaction.

Some cats want attention, some want quiet company, and some want to observe from a distance. I respect all of that.

Health, Behavior, and Safety

Do you administer medication?

Yes. I’m experienced with oral medications, transdermal creams, and injections like insulin.

Everything is done gently and with as little stress as possible.

What if there is a medical emergency?

I will contact you or your emergency contact immediately.

If urgent care is needed, I’ll transport your cat to your preferred vet or the nearest emergency hospital based on your authorization.

Do you care for fearful or aggressive cats?

Yes. I’m experienced with many temperaments and use Fear Free methods to keep stress low.

If a situation is unsafe, we’ll talk honestly about what’s best for your cat.

Do you care for outdoor cats?

Yes. I offer care for outdoor cats and managed colonies including food, water, and visual health checks.

What happens in bad weather?

I plan ahead and adjust routes as needed.

Your cat will always be fed and cared for, even if visit timing shifts slightly.

Home, Trust, and Security

Who will be coming into my home?

In almost all cases, it will be me, Laura.

I also have a very small circle of trusted backup sitters who only step in if something unexpected comes up. You will always be notified.

How do you handle keys and home access?

I accept lockboxes, keypads, and garage codes.

I also require a physical backup key in case technology fails.

Are your sitters background checked?

I am the primary sitter.

Any future sitters will be carefully selected, background checked, trained, and insured.

Communication and Admin

How will I receive updates?

You’ll receive an update after every visit with photos and notes.

Updates can be sent through the app, text, or email.

Do I have to use the app?

No. It’s optional.

I’m happy to use text or email if that feels easier.

Does your software use GPS?

Yes. Visit check-ins and check-outs are GPS tracked for transparency.

How do I pay?

Payment is handled through the client portal by credit card.

I also accept Venmo, Zelle, checks, and cash.

What is your cancellation policy?

I understand that plans change and I try to be flexible.

During peak holidays or very last-minute cancellations, a fee may apply if I’ve already held space or turned away other clients.
